There are 3 trail options:
- North Pond Loop -- approximately 3 miles, mostly shaded. Can be started no later than 11:30am
- Two Ponds Loop -- 4.5 miles, mostly in open skies. Can be started no later than 11:00am
- Barn Pond Loop -- CLOSED FOR THE SPRING SEASON -- due to the presence of Tricolored Blackbirds a California Fish and Game Commission listed THREATENED and International Union for the Conservation of Nature listed endangered species. Tricolored Blackbird population has declined by more than 50% since 1970, leaving the global breeding population at approximately 300,000 individuals according to Partners in Flight. Learn more about the Tricolored Blackbird through The Cornell Lab. Deer Creek Hills is a Nature Preserve, as such, habitat protection is our top priority. Thank you for respecting this trail closure. Together we are providing a safe and welcoming breeding site for Tricolored Blackbird at Deer Creek Hills Preserve.
A map will be provided and the trails are marked. Please dress appropriate for the forecasted weather, sturdy shoes, cell phone, snacks and water are required. SVC Staff working the event will exchange cell numbers with you, prior to hiking out.
The road to access Deer Creek Hills is not paved. 4WD, higher clearance vehicles are recommended, but not required.
All events are subject to weather conditions. If there is rain projected, event will likely be canceled. Registered guests will be notified by Thursday evenings and the event will be labeled as canceled on the website.
Smoking is prohibited on the preserve.
No dogs allowed, except working service dogs.

Arrive as early as 9am to start your Deer Creek Hills experience. Return and be off trails by 1pm.
Gates will be locked at 1:00pm.
